My project symbolizes how domestic abuse victims often hide what is happening to them in order to protect their abuser, kids, etc. I made half of my project as a what seems to be a perfectly fine human being, smiling and looking happy, the other half was made into a physically abused, crying victim. Although domestic abuse isn't always physical I thought it would create the easiest portrayal of abuse and would be easily perceived. I wrote on my project that seventy percent of domestic abuse cases go unreported to show just how often this happens. Domestic abuse is when an intimate partner places a dominance on their significant other and has control over them in a way. I chose this topic for my project because I feel this issue is being overlooked and that more awareness should be brought to it. I feel that it is a common thing to see in today's society and more attention should be brought to it. If it becomes a more recognized issue, victims will learn that it is right to tell someone if they are being domestically abused in order to protect them and to prevent it from continuing.
